Our Development Story: From Frustrated Owners to Obsessive Engineers

We owned a beautiful Volvo C70 Convertible. The roof worked perfectly… until the day the microswitch failed.

We searched everywhere. OEM dealers quoted months of waiting with no stock. Aftermarket options were cheap plastic junk that broke in weeks. No one made a proper replacement.

So we did what any true enthusiast would do: we decided to build it ourselves.

What started as a “weekend project” turned into a year-long mission. We reverse-engineered the original switch, tested dozens of materials, and iterated relentlessly. We went through 229 prototypes — each one tested on our own car in real-world conditions: rain, heat, snow, and repeated roof cycles.

Version 230 is the one you can buy today.

We upgraded the body to a high-strength carbon fibre reinforced nylon blend. It’s significantly stronger and more durable than the original while keeping the exact same fit and function. No modifications needed. Plug-and-play direct replacement for Part # 8614954.
